Such interest has invited LAC 2018-2020 participation and program assistance in many areas including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>Participated in the Twenty-Six Annual Empowerment Congress Summit held at USC and presented by Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, Second District Los Angeles County<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participated in the Martin Luther King, Jr., L. A. Inter-Alumni Council of UNCF, 29<sup>th<\/sup> fundraising for the Historical Black Colleges<\/li>\n<li>Voter\u2019s Registration Drive partnership with L. A. County Democratic, \u201cRegistering \u201cNew Citizen\u201d and preparation for Nov. 2018 Elections<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with \u201cYour Turn Intern\u201d Expo and Celebrity Fest, Volunteered and Students graduation with Scholarship<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with Los Angeles Urban League Guild, National Health Awareness Day &amp; Mental Healthcare for Blacks<\/li>\n<li>Executive Board Members participated in a Leadership Retreat and planning sessions to develop programming and activities 2020<\/li>\n<li>Partnership and member of Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce Programs<\/li>\n<li>Boys and Girls of Carson, we participated in their BGCC\u2019s Annual Youth of the Year Celebration of leadership with teen members from Carson, King, Drew and Locke High Schools<\/li>\n<li>Assisted NAACP WIN Program in their fundraiser for women living with HIV\/AIDS<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with National Women\u2019s Political Caucus in \u201cWomen\u2019s March\u201d in Los Angeles<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with NWPC, honoring Black History Month special guest Actress Winifred Elam re-enacting, \u201cThe Voice of Sojourner Truth\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Celebrated African American Heritage Month, Honoring Dionne Warwick Living Legend Award with L. A. City Hall<\/li>\n<li>Celebrated African American Heritage Month- honoring Jermaine Hawkins, living Legend Award with City Hall.<\/li>\n<li>Partnership in the unveiling of the Washington, DC, African American Museum Stamp and Unveiling of Lena Horne Stamp with L.A. City Hall and Los Angeles Postal Services<\/li>\n<li>Participated in the unveiling \u2013 painting featuring \u201cPresident Barack Hussein Obama\u201d, City of Pasadena Library \u2013 \u201cYES WE CAN\u201d NCBW-Los Angeles Chapter, Chairwoman Harris was interviewed at this event<\/li>\n<li>Volunteered at Pan African Film Arts Festival, 26<sup>th<\/sup> Annual event in Los Angeles &amp; 19<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Black College Expo in L. A.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteered at Los Angeles Urban League National Health Awareness \u2013 \u201cMental Health in African American\u201d<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC joined the Coalition for Strategic Black Programming First Bi-Annual Meeting. The goals are to provide a bi-annual space for Black women organizations to convene, share calendars and build community with each other.<\/li>\n<li>Participated, 28<sup>th<\/sup> Annual R. E. Jones Scholarship Program for Grambling University \u2013 assist in with their annual fundraiser<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC Chairwoman was interviewed by Valorie P. Hagan, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogtalkradio.com\/soul%2520topics,%2520%2520\">blogtalkradio.com\/soul topics, \u201cWhat a Time to Honor Women.<\/a>\u00a0 Alene Harris, was\u201d Telling Her Story\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Participated in City of Carson\u2019s, 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Gala Ball, honoring our Past-Envisioning the Future<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC partnered with and participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Walk-A-Thon held in Baldwin Hills and \u201cMaking Strides against Breast Cancer\u201d at Charles Wilson Park and City of Carson.<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC Partnered with Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Walk and members volunteered at \u201cRegistration Desk\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Partnered with and participated in the \u201cCelebrate Life Cancer Ministry Programs\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Partnership with Congresswoman Karen Bass Town Hall Meetings and family separation at the border<\/li>\n<li>Presented the Fifth Annual NCBW-LAC Scholarship Award Reception which was held at Mt. Saint Mary\u2019s University, Doheny Campus. Fourteen awardees received $500.00 each as their parents and families enjoyed the reception<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC celebrated 9th Annual Awards Luncheon, theme \u201c2018 Year of the Woman, Women making a Difference.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Members participation &#8211; 34<sup>th<\/sup> Annual National Awards Luncheon in Washington D. C.<\/li>\n<li>The Wellness Community, Lena Kennedy 2018 Women Health\/Beauty Conference and Exposition<\/li>\n<li>Participated with the American Red Cross 14<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Hometown Heroes Luncheon<\/li>\n<li>NCBW-LAC 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual Christmas Toy Drive partnership with the L. A. County and Carson Sheriff Department<\/li>\n<li>December NCBW-LAC Chapter Holiday Mixer Celebration. Celebrating Sisterhood- a Chapter project to acknowledge our membership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is NCBW-LAC\u2019s goal to continue on-going fundraising and ensure that the voice of the community is heard through representation of public committees and\/or boards and partnerships with organizations.
