The National Congress of Black Women (NCBW), Inc., San Gabriel Valley Youth Chapter has recently been formed. This organization focuses on the leadership development and community involvement of young girls, targeting ages 12-18. This summer, the chapter partnered with a “Network for a Healthy California” in completing a one week cooking workshop, The girls left with valuable information on nutrition and culinary skills focusing on how to prepare and cook familiar dishes with a healthy spin.
The goal of the workshop was to introduce healthier eating options that can be shared with their families as well as educating the girls on choices. This is in direct alignment with one of the NCBW SGV youth chapter’s initiatives to end childhood obesity, campaigned through their slogan “Eat. Move. Live well”.
